We're BAAACK!!

... and revived. Vacation recharged the battery and got us ready to get back in gear. I'm attempting to catch up on calls and emails, as well as uploads and sessions. Thank you for your patience while I get back on track. The 2 hour time difference has our sleeping and eating patterns all out of wack. So bear with us!
As far as our vacation goes...
I feel like through photos I am doing justice to whatever the event - or at least trying to. The Details from a wedding I think I can capture and even enhance them to look even better. Sometimes I can capture that one moment with my camera that represents the spirit of a child, or the love of a family.
Regarding the beautiful landscapes that nature has provided for us - I cannot do justice or capture it and make you feel what it was like to be there. I tried aprox. 2,000 times, but can't get the glory of it all in one shot. And perhaps we aren't meant to. There is no photo that can show you the feeling you get when you see something so magnificent, but I'll share with you a few of my tries...
NOTE* Some of these photos are taken with my 4megapixel little camera - great for travel - not so great for quality.
Our flight was delayed 4 hours, so after getting 3 hours of sleep and RUSHING to the airport, we sat for 5 hours total... we were so jazzed.
Pics from the window (I bribed my way to the window seat!!)

This is Lake Powell - one of our destinations - from the plane.

We stayed in Vegas the first night. Vegas was actually our least favorite part of the trip. (Some of my friends are gasping at that comment, but I'm neither a city or a crowd girl.) We did see Cirque de Sole though and that was AMAZING! I have never seen anything like it!!

This my friends is my favorite Vegas hot spot...
It's at the Bellagio

this is ALL chocolate. It is a HUGE fountain with white and dark melty ooey gooey dreamy-ness!

When we got to the Grand Canyon it was raining and it was 45 degrees. We ate a 45$ medium pizza from pizza hut and went back to the hotel. Boo. But then... the sky opened up
and we drove like mad to get to the nearest lookout point.
I didn't have time to grab my tripod, so the pics aren't great, but the story is...
I've never seen the Grand Canyon, so I was basically jumping out of a moving car to get there before the sun was completely down. When I got to the fence I really was emotional. Then, next to me was a mom and a little boy - maybe 3 years old. She was knelt down whispering to her son as they looked out at the beautiful scene. (I wanted to photograph them, as moments like that captured give me happiness - but alas, I didn't want to seem like a psycho stalker!) As I watched them, the dad and brother were walking up and the little boy called to them... "You guys have to see this... God is here - we're in heaven!"
I couldn't have agreed more!

The next day...

Lake Powell: Most people don't know much about Lake Powell, but if you ever want an amazing vacation... you must go. The temp is between 80-90 degrees, and there is ZERO humidity. It was the best weather ever. And the scenery is breathtaking. Lake Powell used to be a northern area of the Grand Canyon - Glen Canyon. They put in a dam (second largest to Hoover Dam) and created the most beautiful lake. It has more shoreline than the Pacific Coast.
Our boat - fyi - the water is not enhanced... it is THAT blue!

Page AZ is also home to the most famous slot canyon in the world, and was on the top of my list for places I wanted to see. I think you can see why.

Some other odds and ends from the trip..
I know I am geeky, but I really loved this grass shot.
The little specs are my two guys. They golfed an amazing course.

Bryce Canyon

One of my favorite spots - from below...

and from above...

I don't pretend I am as good - but my attempt at Ansel Adams shots.

And finally - pics by my son that are pretty much my favorite from the trip. He posed and came up with these himself, and took them with his cell phone. So if you ever see a 13 year old walking around with a cell phone at your wedding or photo shoot - you see why!
(When he said the words "look at each other" it almost brought a tear to my eye.)

Hope you enjoyed all the photos!
